Cancer Strikes Home:
A Personal Note
It was the Monday after Thanksgiving weekend when my wife of more than 30 years was first diagnosed with cancer.
Thus began an odyssey into the complicated world of modern medicine.
Just like everyone else in similar circumstances, we were not ready for this diagnosis. Cancer was simply not a word we could directly relate to.
Two things I knew immediately were that I had to become a caregiver and that I had to take charge of the bills that would cascade in.
Fortunately, our daughter is an accountant. She knows how to organize paperwork in ways that make it easy to find and file. My daughter provided the basis for a process to organize medical bills.
I have tweaked that process to create a system that has reduced the stress that comes with organizing and paying medical bills.
I am writing this booklet and website because I want to share this system in the hope that it can help others. This booklet is designed for people who have medical insurance and who need to keep track of deductibles, copayments, and out-of-pocket expenses in a coherent fashion.
Finding help for paying medical bills
I am also trying to use this website as a resource for people trying to find ways to help pay their medical expenses.
